Our studio is heated to help the body work out safely and effectively, whilst encouraging sweating. Classes are challenging and have a big focus on the breath. Our dynamic yoga classes contain a flow from posture to posture and each class is sequenced differently by the teacher. The studio is heated to approx. 30 degrees.
Yes. Our classes get busy and we limit the number of mat spaces. You can create an account with us and book your space online. We recommend you arrive at least 5 minutes early to class as late-comers cannot be admitted.
Yes! You wouldn't go to a French lesson if you were already fluent. The best thing you can do is get on the mat, we will guide you through the rest. If you commit to a regular yoga practice your body will begin to open up and you will gain more flexibility in every area of your body.
Absolutely. There seems to be a myth that yoga is only for women but that's simply not true. Modern yoga is booming and thousands of sportsmen including football and rugby teams use yoga to supplement their training - resulting in less injuries and sharper reactions.
We chant OM to open and close each class. OM is an ancient Sanskrit word that was used by the rishis when they meditated. The chant was shared as an experience rather than something tangible. It's said that OM contains every aspect of the universe and by chanting OM we are gaining awareness of our physical being in the moment and the oneness with others around us. On occasion, we chant OM Shanti to close the class. Shanti simply translates to peace, so by doing this chant at the end of class, we are wishing peace for all living and non-living things in our universe. Both are completely optional.
If you had a regular yoga practice before pregnancy then it may be suitable for you to continue to do so during pregnancy, adapting certain poses when necessary. However, if you are brand new to yoga, it is recommended not to start with a physically challenging style like our dynamic yoga during pregnancy. This is because it will be too much for the body to start finding and strengthening muscles from not having them developed beforehand. Please know that our teachers are not specifically trained in pregnancy yoga, so can only suggest basic alternatives in poses for you, and you practise at your own risk. Please get permission from your doctor before attending a class if you are pregnant.
