Our life stories can be a ghost in our lives that stop us from being who we truly are. But you can use your past to empower your future.
My story played such an important part in my life when I came to the UK in February 2003 alone, not speaking English, no place to stay, no friends or family and NO job!!!
How crazy and adventurous was I ?
Just €500 in my pocket, little did I know that this wouldn’t even last me a month……. because at the time, converted to pounds, this was not even £400!!
The drive to survive - Finding my inner warrior
The drive I had to survive and not go back under my mum’s skirt, to succeed on my own, I knew I had it in me.
By this time my father had left home and I hadn’t seen him for a few years, knew nothing about him. Not that I would ever be counting on him to help me in case things would get complicated.
When the money for the rent was starting to run out, I heard that the ladies that were looking after the 5 bedroom house where I was staying, with about 12 people on it, were leaving. I proposed the landlady to look after the house if I could stay rent free, she accepted……… yyyyyyyyeeeeeee
A month after I found a job and 5 months later I did my first tattoo, a warrior girl, powerful and ready to conquer the world.
I didn’t know at the time but I had a strong belief that all I needed was within me and I could just make things happen.
I was very focused in learning English, in studying IT and I had set a one year deadline for myself. I had some Brazilian house mates that couldn’t speak English but I would refuse to speak portuguese with them because I wanted to learn. I was travelling by bus from Elephant & Castle (very nasty area at that time !! ) to Canning Town (ahahah …. another nasty area !! ).
It would take me over 2 hours to get to work by bus (couldn’t afford tube) After paying the bus pass, food, I had very little money to do anything else. I was working as a receptionist in a hotel, earning just over £400 at the time.
I remember I had only brought with me only one pair of small heel boots and they were knackered.
I had to buy another pair of shoes and had only £20 until left until the end of the month. I found these military green trainers for £16 and I loved them !!! I wore them until they were falling apart. When you have very little, even the simplest things have a huge impact on you.
I feel so proud of myself looking back and being able to share my stories with you.
They have been part of me growing as a human being and knowing that always had this thrive to LIVE, which is within us all but sometimes we get too comfortable. In our very comfortable life sometimes we lose that inner thrive for a while.
Had I not felt alone as a child, felt not loved by my mum, despised by my brother and sister because I was the favourite of my father, had I not inherited the strength of working side by side with my father, I don’t believe I would have survived in London, would have learnt so much and done so much.
Today I am passionate about helping people to understand their stories and help them use their story in empowering ways.
Find your inner warrior and become UNSTOPPABLE.
Help women to be in the DRIVER seat of their life and to awaken their inner POWER.
