Comfortable clothing that allow you to move with ease when you sweat. We practice bare feet. Women tend to wear leggings or shorts and a top. Men tend to wear shorts, leggings, a loose t-shirt or vest.
I've never done yoga before can I attend an all levels class?
We don’t restrict you from attending a class unless your doctor advises against it. Let our teachers know if you’re a newcomer.
Do you have changing and shower facilities.
I'm not flexible, can i still attend your yoga classes?
We don’t expect you to be flexible or strong before attending a class, and we aim to help you develop a balance of both over your practice.
If you’re new to In Balance Hot Yoga, we’d recommend attending our Beginner’s yoga classes and Beginners Workshop for a few weeks until you’re comfortable to join our All Levels yoga classes.
Should I eat a meal before class?
We advise not eating heavy meals two hours before class. If you need to eat before class, have something light like fruit and nuts.
Do I need a yoga mat?
Yoga mats can be rented for £1. You can of course bring your own.
Do I need to bring anything else?
A bottle of water is good and a towel for your mat to catch the sweat. Small towels can be rented for £1, and we sell mat sized 'hot yoga' grip towels.
What is hot yoga?
Our studio is heated to help the body work out safely and effectively, whilst encouraging sweating. Classes are challenging and have a big focus on the breath. Our dynamic yoga classes contain a flow from posture to posture and each class is sequenced differently by the teacher. The studio is heated to approx. 30 degrees.
Do I need to book?
Yes. Our classes get busy and we limit the number of mat spaces. You can create an account with us and book your space online. We recommend you arrive at least 5 minutes early to class as late-comers cannot be admitted.
How do I pay?
We accept payment online with Visa or Mastercard when you book your class, this reserves your space in class.
Is Yoga for Guys
Yoga is for everyone. We understand that we all have different bodies, hence why we created a yoga class designed for men and to target the body areas that men need to work the most. Have a look at our schedule.
I am pregnant. Can I do hot dynamic yoga?
If you had a regular yoga practice before pregnancy then it may be suitable for you to continue to do so during pregnancy, adapting certain poses when necessary. However, if you are brand new to yoga, it is recommended that you start with our Pre-natal classes, please check the schedule.
In Balance Hot Yoga has been created by Benedita and partner Ian, to offer the people of Southampton a challenging and powerful yoga style that get you out of your head and into your body.
